What should happen if efflorescence is found on pavers before they're sealed?
This paver pool deck in FishHawk Ranch in Lithia, Florida was actually in very good condition when Premier Pro Wash & Seal arrived.
However, during our preparation we identified efflorescence along portions of the pool coping and in several areas underneath it.
Efflorescence is the white or whitish mineral deposit that can develop on masonry surfaces such as concrete pavers. Instead of simply applying sealer over it, we first treated the affected areas with an acid specifically intended for efflorescence treatment.
There's another important step after that treatment:
The acid needs to be properly neutralized before the pavers are sealed.
Residual acidity can potentially interfere with the sealer and cause an adverse reaction. After completing the treatment and neutralization process, we allowed the pool deck time to dry and returned the following day to apply the sealer.
That's something homeowners don't always see in a 30-second before-and-after video.
